About Us
The content of this website was produced by Jessica Richardson Smith and Thomas G. Smith of The HistorySmiths, a digital humanities technology company. The image-overlay map interface, FlipKit, was a custom software for this project.
The site was produced in collaboration with the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. for use of their historic images.
Jessica received her MA in the Department of Anthropology at The George Washington University in 2016. This website was designed and produced as partial fulfillment of the culminating project for a master's degree.
Thomas is a Python programmer at the National Center for Biotechnology Information. He developed the FlipKit software in collaboration with Jessica.
